The Tyranny of the Electors..

The Tamil Nadu politics has recently undergone a topsy turvy change. Even the State Legislative Assembly has got two addresses – Old & New – just like all the houses at Chennai! ‘Superstar’ Rajnikant who said, ‘Even God cannot save TN if Jaya comes to power’ in 1996, was forced to shift sides and congratulate Jaya for ‘saving’ TN (from what/whom, we do not know). After a long time, a party other than the devil and the deep blue sea has ended as a runner up. Kudos to Captain for the guts. Alas TN needed an Option ‘C’ and ‘Nobody knows when I’ll come, how I’ll come; but I’ll come when I am supposed to’ - A Rajni punch dialogue in ‘Muthu’ - did not stand valid beyond the silver screen.

Anti incumbency or Anti corruption.. Whatever be the reason for this landsliding victory! The change is definitely for the good! The ‘minority’ DMK rule had to end!

When its JJ ruling, what happens in the five years are not under our control! After five..

I am no oracle, but Dr. ‘Kalaignar’ M Karunanidhi will be 92 years old. Irrespective of his presence, the Tom and Jerry are going to fight for his chair. Jerry knows he cannot go beyond the state. Home Ministers are supposed to stay home. Tom knows he cannot survive at the centre. Fertilisers have an expiry date, especially when they cannot speak anything other than Tamil. If the warfare is vigorous, DMK will end up being a cow in tiger suede.

Giving such an edge to JJ is never good for TN! When a loose hanging, stupid government at the centre can corrupt so much, an absolute and arrogant government at the state might get completely corrupted. TN needs another option. A ‘Vanchinathan’.. A ‘Narasimma’.. A ‘Honest Raj’.. to do a ‘Raajjiyam’ to make this state - may be even the country - a ‘Vallarasu’..

Get ready TN! If JJ does not perform to our expectations, it might be the Captain ruling us!

His formula movies have not worked at the Box Office. But the formula KALAIGNAR + PURATCHI THALAIVI = PURATCHI KALIGNAR might just work in the elections. We had ‘Thatha’. We are having ‘Amma’. Soon it might be ‘Engal Anna’!

It might be too early to predict. But predictions are always safe when they are early.

Politics is like a T20 match. Its always good for the captain to keep changing the bowlers so that the batsman does not get settled.

The voter is the captain. The elected party forms the bowlers. The batsman is corruption.

We need an ICC - one that does not lick the BCCI - to curb it! We need an organized, non-fearing united ‘Civil Society’.
